About Me

Raised with motorsport,
at home on the racetrack.

My name is Robin Dönni. I'm from Roggliswil in Switzerland and grew up with historic cars and motorsport.

As a small child I was already turning my first laps on a pocket bike, spending every free minute with vehicles, on racetracks, and anywhere motorsport and technology mattered. At eleven I got to drive our Jaguar XKR on the Anneau du Rhin — and the search for the perfect lap has stayed with me ever since.

Competitive sport shaped me early on too: in bike trial I competed at three World Championships and learned what discipline, self-responsibility and handling setbacks really mean. A knee injury forced me to reorient — and led me back to my greatest passion: motorsport.

Today I drive some of the most fascinating historic racing cars in Europe, was confirmed as the driver of the legendary Lister Maserati for the Goodwood Revival 2026, and represent the Lenzerheide Motor Classics as an ambassador.

Vehicle Understanding

Understand the car first.
Only then its full potential.

What sets me apart is the ability to adapt to completely different racing cars in the shortest possible time. Whether a racing car more than 70 years old, a modern prototype or a GT car — every vehicle has its own character and demands a different driving style. That challenge is exactly what fascinates me.

I.

Classic Racing Technique

Precise handling of unsynchronized gearboxes as well as double-declutching and heel-and-toe are, for me, fundamentals for driving historic cars under race conditions while protecting the machinery.

II.

Vehicle Concepts

From live axles and De Dion axles to modern independent suspension, from front- to rear- to mid-engined: I adapt quickly to new racing cars and accurately judge their handling.

III.

Two Worlds as a Strength

Switching between historic racing cars, prototypes and GT cars isn't a weakness — it's one of my greatest strengths: reading feedback precisely and building trust from the very first turn.

For me, speed doesn't mean blindly pushing a car to its limits. It's about getting the most out of it together with the car while understanding the technical relationships behind it. I already hold the Inter-C motorsport license.

“Robin has an exceptional feel for driving historic racing cars correctly and with care for the machinery. He is an outstanding test driver.”

International Network

Closely connected to the
international Jaguar scene.

Through Dönni Classic Car AG, my parents' business — for decades one of Europe's most renowned addresses for classic Jaguar and SS cars — I made early connections with collectors, drivers, teams and workshops across Europe, the UK and the USA.

My stations include internships with Jason Len, founder of XKs Unlimited in California, and with Bill McGrath Maserati in England. I'm also supported by Dr. Christian Jenny, a well-known Swiss Jaguar collector. This network forms the foundation for projects such as the Goodwood Revival entry and access to extraordinary historic racing cars.
